    @steeljackal – well put guv!

  • I agree its a nice change of scale of conflict …. unlike the 101 rules for land warfare!

looking forward to the UK opening up again so I can get more than the couple of games I’ve played in… with both my IJN & Soviet Red Fleet!

  • going to say 3 things…
    1) the game is actually scale agnostic… in fact talking to some of the playtesters… they didnt playtest it at 1:1800 but at other scales they had at home…
    2) warlord arent the only manufactors… come join us in the Victory at Sea Wardroom (unofficial) group on facebook for more
    3) the bases arent that bad, I for one…[Read more]

No its not clear, if its clear then there wouldnt be these questions…

plus where are you getting 1 page scenario from?… we are looking at theater lists… now my wife (who doesnt do anything with wargamming or that much about history unless its about art)  just had a look and agreed that the rule says no artillery units and then said if AA…[Read more]

Well  common sense isnt common :p … what makes sense to me (due to my time in the army) might not make sense to my brother who’s never served, so who do you write the rules for me or him?

Saying i’m all right Jake (as you just did, saying you dont have an issue understanding it) IS the problem..  I read it when I got the Stalingrad book and w…[Read more]

The issue comes from the wording warlord uses… IF they said no artillery guns instead of no artillery units then there wouldn’t be as much of a problem.  Due to how warlord write the theater lists….

I say it’ll still be a problem because Artillery Units is a rules term for any large weapons team, and includes rules such as immune to…[Read more]

if your in the UK look at simple storage boxes

  • Nat replied to the topic Q about FAQ in the forum Bolt Action 3 years, 6 months ago

Warlord rules writers & proof readers make mistake and over complicate simple rules…. in other new water is still wet!

This is the main issue with warlord rules, whilst they write some of the easiest to read rule books there ability to describe the rules, and refer to what they’ve already written is some times a bit lacking (I point to…[Read more]

  • Nat replied to the topic Yugoslavian army list in the forum Bolt Action 3 years, 6 months ago

more likely they havent looked at the balkans in depth…..

next campaign book any one?    Italian invasion of Albania and failed invasion of Greece with the german intervention!

new models – none needed (although the greeks could get a unit or two)
new units – a few Greek & Balkan units… possibly an italian one or two..
new theater lists – 1…[Read more]

but doesnt germany strikes have a Danish army list?  And they didnt last that long!

IIRC didnt Andy Chambers say that the FirePower would need to be upped as planes had a max of only about 4 MGs (so that would be FP 3)
Also speed would be 25 mph per Inch of speed instead of the 50 for WW2 because otherwise the game would be slow to get aircraft in to combat.

  • Nat replied to the topic Yugoslavian army list in the forum Bolt Action 3 years, 6 months ago

    Ah yeah….

In which case I’d use the fall of france french list as a base with modifications – ie only light tanks, free conscript rifle squad instead of Artillery.  As they where mainly french equiped.

  • Nat replied to the topic Yugoslavian army list in the forum Bolt Action 3 years, 6 months ago

As Master Chief said, there isnt a separate Yugoslavian partisan army list but rather they come under the partisians heading in the armies of france book.

If you look at the liberation list (pg 107) it mentions being used for Tito’s forces….

  • So we are looking at.

Firing – work out range /mods etc

roll to hit – calculate number of hits.

PINs – work out and apply number of pins

Flamethrower moral check – moral check on target

Damage – multiply flamethrower hit out to number of damage rolls required.

roll number of hits to see if damage is caused

    -remove casualties (remembering…[Read more]

  • Not AWI, but Napoleonics… I’ve got for my french i’ve got 4 Light, 4 Grenadiers & a 4 strong command party (flag, officer, muscian & soldier).  Then the rest of the unit (4 in a small, 12 in a normal, 20 in a large unit) are all standard guys.

My Napoleonic russians who are slightly different in that their line regiments where 4 companies, 3…[Read more]

  • I’ve always read it that the flamethrower basically counts it as if the target has lost 50%+ of the unit even if they hadnt (or are a vehicle)… IE just the 1 moral check.

  • Nat replied to the topic Mortar Team Zeroing in the forum Bolt Action 3 years, 6 months ago

Unless you were targeting the building (pointless with most mortars as you need 10+ hits to hurt the building) then yes you need to start again as the target units foot print has moved more than 2″

@Jacob Carter – that squad entry is also found in the ‘Campaign: battle of the bulge’ book and doesnt really over ride the paratroopers entry in the ‘armies of …’ book as it covers the change of TOE they had during the war.  Just like the British Armies of book has two paratrooper entries

Its PAratrooper (late war) and should only be used…[Read more]

So a few examples to help Stiener out..

example 1, small arms v softskin – roll to hit as normal, on hit apply 1 pin, roll to wound, on a 6 roll a D6 on the damage chart (no mods)

example 2, HMG v soft skin – roll to hit, if 1+ hit apply 1 pin, roll as many hits to wound, each 5+* is a roll on the damage chart (no mods)

*ie after apply the HMGs…[Read more]
