Nat replied to the topic Bombers, dogfights & ships…what happens? in the forum Victory At Sea 4 years, 1 month ago
So your saying ignore the dogfight completely?
Note I’m not talking tactics about if you should engage the attacking bomber flight or not ….purely what would happen if you did

Nat replied to the topic Nice Knee-Jerk on the Tiger Fear Warlord… in the forum Bolt Action 4 years, 1 month ago
So a little of history mixed with a bit of game play… using tank veterancy rules as a base idea…here is Nats idea! ™ :p
Tiger fear : 1943 onwards. All German tanks with an armour value of 8+
If an activating unit can draw LoS to a unit with this rule it must take an order check or change its order to down or run, and must end its…[Read more]

Nat replied to the topic Most interesting Allied force in the forum Bolt Action 4 years, 1 month ago
So define intresting….
looks / modeling – you’ve got the IFF late 1944, so you can do a mix of free french in US & British uniforms with US armour + resistance fighters (with IFF arm bands) & supporting SAS / para’s /rangers
You’ve got British /Free french/dutch/norwegian etc commandos
LRDG (long range desert group) for that raiders with…[Read more]

So a question came up on the wardroom today… so I thought I’d see what opions here is!
Scenario – there is a bomber flight (dive / torp /bomber..doesnt matter) thats touching the base of an enemy ship. Also touching the bomber flight but not the ship (not that would matter) is an enemy flight…
Now RAW doesnt say anything about this…so…[Read more]

Nat replied to the topic Nice Knee-Jerk on the Tiger Fear Warlord… in the forum Bolt Action 4 years, 1 month ago
I think they should take a leaf out of the Victory at sea book…where you set a year for your game..
that way you can put tiger fear as a national rule instead of a vehicle rule – ie 1944 & 1945 applys to all medium and heavy tanks
just an idea for v3….:p

The crew of a transport can use 1 weapon per order…any others need to be used by the tranported squads (note if the squad cant shoot such as medics then they cant use the transports weapons).
It doesnt matter which weapon the tranport crew use… and can change between orders..
If the weapon is attached to the vehicle then its left with the…[Read more]

Nat replied to the topic Wardroom (facebook group) FAQ in the forum Victory At Sea 4 years, 2 months ago
The FAQ is whats been said here and on the FB page…but focused on what has been released (ie the rules manual currently)… which is why theres some things (the Agano class cruisers traits* for example) that arent in it…
Now by Matts own admission the ability to put flights to scout is in the main rulebook and not in the QSR….and goes…[Read more]

Games are permissive rule sets… it tells you what you can do.. if it doesnt tell you then you cant do it. Using other games systems as a why cant we is genrally not a good place to start espically when they are written by different people…. that out of the way :p
Now should there be a chance to hit with every shot – No! why….well…[Read more]

Shouldn’t be to hard to do a Russian civil war (1917-1919?) The french, us and British forces are ww1 .. just need to work out the OrBats of the red and white Russians
You can also do Chinese civil war using the empires in flames Chinese lists…same book also has the sino-russian war of the mid to late 30s

Nat replied to the topic AA Attack Dice in the forum Victory At Sea 4 years, 2 months ago
Hi,
yes you have the right of it…local 1 with nothing in the AD column of the battery will give you only 1 dice only to AA with and can only target flights that are touching its base

Nat replied to the topic AA Rules – clarifications and questions in the forum Victory At Sea 4 years, 2 months ago
Oh for the DP half range thing ..just half the max range and that’s it’s range against flughrs

Nat replied to the topic AA Rules – clarifications and questions in the forum Victory At Sea 4 years, 2 months ago
Hi,
AA – in the movement phase local X may shoot any aircraft flight that passes over the ship…this number of dice maybe used once per flight that passes over….
At the start of the shooting phase AA + local X may shoot at any flights touching the base of the ship BEFORE any ship is chosen to fire…each AD can only be used once.. chose…[Read more]

Nat replied to the topic spotter and holding objectives in the forum Bolt Action 4 years, 2 months ago
Personally I’d have said no… because a spotter is an upgrade to a unit not a unit him (or her)self.. in that they dont provide an order die (they merly use the mortar /howitzers*) & unless the FAQ says otherwise that’ll be the way I’ll play it
*dont forget the spotter runs away when their gun/mortar dies /runs…..

About the Soviet infanty (not just SMG) companies….lets be honest with something like 8 rifle battalion org changes (including 3 guard changes) between April 41 and May 45 its no wonder people get confused as to when and how they where formed :p
I mean it reads like some units could well have ‘skipped’ an org change because it happened so f…[Read more]
