Nat replied to the topic Wardroom (facebook group) FAQ in the forum Victory At Sea 4 years, 3 months ago
The FAQ is whats been said here and on the FB page…but focused on what has been released (ie the rules manual currently)… which is why theres some things (the Agano class cruisers traits* for example) that arent in it…
Now by Matts own admission the ability to put flights to scout is in the main rulebook and not in the QSR….and goes…[Read more]

As we’re waiting for the full rulebook to be released, those of us on the facebook group the (Victory at Sea Wardroom) have put together an FAQ with some of the answers comming from the design studio and others from the original Author.
Whilst its unoffical as we’re not Warlord staff we hope that it helps!
Thanks to Craig the webmaster…[Read more]

Nat replied to the topic Generel Rules – clarification and questions in the forum Victory At Sea 4 years, 3 months ago
Games are permissive rule sets… it tells you what you can do.. if it doesnt tell you then you cant do it. Using other games systems as a why cant we is genrally not a good place to start espically when they are written by different people…. that out of the way :p
Now should there be a chance to hit with every shot – No! why….well…[Read more]

Shouldn’t be to hard to do a Russian civil war (1917-1919?) The french, us and British forces are ww1 .. just need to work out the OrBats of the red and white Russians
You can also do Chinese civil war using the empires in flames Chinese lists…same book also has the sino-russian war of the mid to late 30s

Nat replied to the topic AA Attack Dice in the forum Victory At Sea 4 years, 4 months ago
Hi,
yes you have the right of it…local 1 with nothing in the AD column of the battery will give you only 1 dice only to AA with and can only target flights that are touching its base

Nat replied to the topic AA Rules – clarifications and questions in the forum Victory At Sea 4 years, 4 months ago
Hi,
AA – in the movement phase local X may shoot any aircraft flight that passes over the ship…this number of dice maybe used once per flight that passes over….
At the start of the shooting phase AA + local X may shoot at any flights touching the base of the ship BEFORE any ship is chosen to fire…each AD can only be used once.. chose…[Read more]

Nat replied to the topic spotter and holding objectives in the forum Bolt Action 4 years, 4 months ago
Personally I’d have said no… because a spotter is an upgrade to a unit not a unit him (or her)self.. in that they dont provide an order die (they merly use the mortar /howitzers*) & unless the FAQ says otherwise that’ll be the way I’ll play it
*dont forget the spotter runs away when their gun/mortar dies /runs…..

About the Soviet infanty (not just SMG) companies….lets be honest with something like 8 rifle battalion org changes (including 3 guard changes) between April 41 and May 45 its no wonder people get confused as to when and how they where formed :p
I mean it reads like some units could well have ‘skipped’ an org change because it happened so f…[Read more]

Nat replied to the topic Stalingrad Enemy at the Gates in the forum Bolt Action 4 years, 4 months ago
Yeah it was one of the changes to the red army after the winter war with Finland in 39/40 (the formation of SMG equipped companies…. cant remember if they were their own battalions or just a company within the normal battalion structure… its also where the first tank rider units came from.. but thats another topic :p)
The soviet book does…[Read more]

Nat replied to the topic Yak-1 or Yak -1b in the forum Blood Red Skies 4 years, 4 months ago
If you go to the facebook group – ‘Blood Red Skies Ready Room’ and look in the files section there is a FAQ file (latest is March this year) by Andy Chambers (the Author of the game)…
however the errata section (so points change on the P51, the Yak1 & something else) has gone missing … again! but there is a file from about a year ago with…[Read more]

Nat replied to the topic Stalingrad Enemy at the Gates in the forum Bolt Action 4 years, 4 months ago
soviets are easier because even in 1941 they have whole units armed with SMGs… its just that if you wanted to make 3 units of rifle armed guys from a box you cant….(oh dear what I shame out of 2 boxes of guys I now have 2 units of SMG guys)
But yeah..with Bolt Action take the rules as a starting point and common ground for playing people..…[Read more]

1. You can use the emplacements as terrain peices or as basing materials… which ever takes your fancy.. there is no right or wrong answer
2. Yeah you dont always get enough of the weapons you want in the boxs… for example the Soviet Infantry box doesnt give enough rifles… so if you can either use them then count as normal rifles when…[Read more]

Nat replied to the topic Leaving the Board in the forum Black Seas 4 years, 4 months ago
Make it that you take damage if you leave..the same as if you are becalmed or drop 2 sails levels.
another alternative is to allow the following ship(s) to target the one that has left the table…measuring to the exit point. The ship that left can’t fire back as all the crew are attempting to tack the ship round
