I managed to get a reply from WG on this topic (don’t ask how).

The Army List omission is a “known-known” and will presumably be addressed in some way (FAQ or future update).

There was also a recommendation that British Rifles could be used as a proxy army list entry since they are essentially the same?

There was also a mention to use Epic Battles The Hundred Days Rulebook – p125 as an entry.  Personally I wasn’t planning on getting that book, so I will go the route of using the Brit Rifles until something “official” comes out.

This is slightly off topic, but where do the Disembarking rules state that troops can dismount 6 inches away from the transport.

2nd Ed says that measurement is taken from the transport.  My one opponent had the same impression that his transports could catapult their cargo at the enemy and we could not find any wording anywhere to support that.  Perhaps a holdover from 1st Ed??  Thanks!

I am about to play my first game using a squad.

I have a couple of thoughts on how to make them at least points neutral.  My plans at least… we shall see…

    1. They only ever RUN or FIRE.

    2. They never dismount

    3. Use their RECCE ability to make my opponent waste a unit shooting at them while they escape.  This will mean they have to be the last thing to move in the previous turn so they get into a “harassment” position (like on a flank threatening a small weapons team or something).

    4. Hold them in reserve to quickly grab an objective in those scenarios with objectives.

    Thanks.

Before the FAQ was released it was not clear on the unit size which is why I went with the five man section (1 NCO+4)

I do believe a larger unit would be a little excessive historically as well as perhaps unbalanced.

And I choose to have four units of other Dragons Porte from which to pull those VB’s for reassignment.

    Thanks again!

I agree on the point that most units should be allowed the option to split off their VB’s.

As to Dragons Porte, I use the normal Warlord French models. There are other manufacturers as you say, but I don’t think they are quality enough to buy.

And the other company have chosen the shorter coat as opposed to the long jacket since I believe they are trying to model them as motorcycle troops?

I believe the uniforms of other DP units (in carrier or trucks) was very similar to the regular French uniform (from my reading), which is why I just use those.

The VB Group is found in the “Battle of France” Campaign book. Page 85.

There are a number of additional units that are added, including the VB, but also more options for the Dragons Porte, Intelligence Squads, Engineers, Officer Cadets, etc, and more AMC variants.
