  • I do not know what to say. If they learned to write the regulations well 😅
Bangalore rules says refer to “blow it up” rule and not “manual mine clearing”.
Easy army says roll 6+ with 2d6.

  • it is not very clear, as always the regulation is poorly written.

    “D-day overlord” book

    1) “manual cleaning minefield” paragraph : +2 for using mine clearing gear, and it include bangalore.

    2) But the next “Bangalore torpedoes” special rules say: “…refer to “blow it up” rules for minefield, use the same rule for barbed wire…” then “…roll…[Read more]

I always say that the rule book is poorly written. Bolt Action is a nice regulation but poorly written.

I had written an email to Warlord for a confirmation on the roll to damage units on board following the destruction of the vehicle.

They tell me that the rule team has not spoken at the moment but has only said that in the next FAQ there will…[Read more]

So the spotter is only for drawing LOS.
Only the pins on the mortar count for the order test.
Pinning the observer is useless. The pins on the observer only count if you want to order the observer to move.

Reading in italian traslation is not clear. Now I read again in original english version and I understand like Nat wrote.

  • Steeljackal replied to the topic Indirect Fre and Pins in the forum Bolt Action 4 years ago

    And if:
    – spotter has no pins
    – mortar has pins
Mortar shoots on the spotter’s indication, so the spotter does not need an order test and I put the “fire” die close to the observer, but should the mortar perform an order test to shoot?

  • 🤦‍♂️😅 Another badly written part of the rulebook… No Pen value to roll to damage…

at first reading the regulation seems simple, but then you go into detail and the rulebook is written very badly, many things are unclear or clearly written wrong, and then the FAQs say otherwise

  • Pen modifier is basic rules, infact is written when not apply. For example in close quarter combat chapter “ATTACKERS ROLL TO DAMAGE… Roll to inflict damage in the
same way as for shooting,… Note that no Pen modifiers apply in close quarters…”

    ….

EDIT – @ Steeljacket – as normal would be the basic rule as PEN value is listed in the rules as a bonus …

I do not agree. The basic rule is always to apply penetration modifiers! It’s a basic rule, as the manual says at the beginning.

    “IMPORTANT NOTE
The basic game rules are written with units of infantry in mind<…[Read more]

“During preliminary bombardment, if an infantry unit is inside a transport at the start of the game,… …if they suffer an ‘incoming!’ result, is the one automatic hit resolved against the infantry unit riding or against the transport?
Do not roll separately from units that are onboard transports. Roll just for the transport unit, and if…[Read more]

This happened recently. A transport with a squad in was hit and destroyed by both a panzerfaust and flamethrower coming from same unit. Questions: Does the hit unit for wounds (after d6) get hit by the penetration of the weapons or just their morale level? Would the unit if technically hit by flamer also need a flamer  morale…

  • Open-topped apply only to armoured vehicles (7+), not to soft-skinned (6).

Small arms (sniper is part of the small arms) can only pin open-topped armoured vehicle . Can’t damage.

Soft-skinned vehicles (6) can be damaged by small arms (sniper is part of the small arms). If score damage roll -> then roll on damage table (remember that superficial…[Read more]

Taking ispiration from Star Trek, where uniforms colors identify sections: with red color command section; yellow security and engineering; blu science and medicine.

  • Theater selectors have units and slots other than a reinforced platoon available. I don’t have that specific manual, but looking at easy army I see that some lists from that book have the free Forward Artillery observer and some don’t.

  • Warlord also have 40mm. Rectangular and square bases too.

I who keep the models separate for team weapons, use 40mm bases that are perfect for weapon and gunner.

  • SteveT

“Yeah it was a confusion over team weapon crew losses vs artillery crew losses.  Wonder why they decided to treat them differently…”

It is one of many approximations, and it is not illogical.

An MG is more susceptible to jamming or damage than an artillery cannon.
MG and mortar could be damaged by a small caliber bullet hitting ai…[Read more]
