  • Jim I like your idea. I already see pics online of miniatures on trasparent bases.

I also don’t like seeing grass bases on the beach or in a paved square, especially for large bases such as artillery and support weapons. They are often beautiful mini dioramas, but I am not convinced to see a mg team camouflaged behind a trunk in a building, or an…[Read more]

  • I always found Warlord mortar, arty,… team with medium and large circular bases to put all on it.

  • Hi Steve,

you wrote “This kind of implies that the surviving crew could run about independently…after the loss of the main gunner and actual weapon.”

If I understand right, this is not correct. A team based weapon unit (like MG, mortar, bazzoka, sniper) after exceptional damage entire unit and dice is lost. Assistant can’t continue to fight. F…[Read more]

  • The choice is yours. I prefer to use small bases and keep assistants separate. You can quickly and easily see how many servants are missing. I attach some photos.

A normal wounded, chosen by the defender.
An exceptional damage means that the weapon is damaged / jammed in addition to the gunner’s death, and the assistants flee. The whole unit is…[Read more]

In first version rulebook DOWN  give -1 to hit modifier, in second version rulebook -2, so I think this here is the misunderstanding (maybe Empire in Flames are old and written with first edition rules, or is only a mistake).

Unit dug-in count as DOWN (-2 to hit modifier and HE hits are halved), if go DOWN when dug-in all doubled so -4 to hit…[Read more]

From rulebook “…Bunkers follow the rules given for buildings with these exceptions:…”

and no exception follows on the fire from the openings, therefore by regulation two models fire from 1 opening.

Then in a friendly game, if the opening is large enough nobody forbids you and you friends to establish that more models can be fire from a large…[Read more]

  • From the photos on the Walord site often it is not clear how some pieces are mounted. I remember that I had the same problem with pak36. I don’t remember if I forced anything or just glued it with the correct angle

  • i don’t have that book, but i looked at easyarmy. the reinforced platoon has only one armor, and in the list of available vehicles there are also Germans.
even in logic I feel like saying that the basic rule of the reiforced platoon has only one armor. then there are the various books with campaigns and scenarios. take a look at easyarmy and take…[Read more]

We use this simple but useful template and laser like Mark

  • When you choose a unit at the start of the game, you also choose the experience level, and based on the experience level the initial morale level is determined. But morale and experience are two different things and morale during the game varies without affecting the experience.

The only problem is precisely if the axis of the cannon barrel is on the separation line of two arcs of fire. But as Masterchief has already written, in similar cases (such as when it is too far to say whether or not there is cover) the regulation suggests that in case of uncertainty to roll a dice: in this case 50% is front arc 50% is lateral arch

  • Steeljackal replied to the topic Angle of impact in the forum Bolt Action 4 years, 3 months ago

You use fire vehicle’s fire arc for 2 things:

1- When you is the attacker, determine where you can fire and wich weapon can fire

2- When you is the target, determine where they shoot to you, where the shot comes from

  • Steeljackal replied to the topic Angle of impact in the forum Bolt Action 4 years, 3 months ago

The attacker can see the target’s front and side, and can hit one of them.

The ruls, however, says that you must not see what the attacker sees, but in which arc (defender’s arc) the attacker is located, in this case he is in the front defender’s arc and therefore the front armor value is applied.

The reason behind this: even if the attacker’s…[Read more]

  • After studying the photos taken during a holiday in Normandy last summer, I built a series of buildings in style with 9mm extruded polystyrene panels taken in the hardware, engraved the details, mixed each color to recreate those typical shades of lime, stones, plasters, …

  • If you use 28mm miniatures (official scale for Bolt Action / Warlord), then vehicles and scenic element (ground / table) scale is +/- 1/56.

That said, the range of weapons is completely out of range (the useful range of a 36-inch sniper, scaled to reality is 51 meters?!?!?).
On the scale of the distances traveled by infantry and vehicles I do not…[Read more]

  • I don’t understand how MMG works in Firefight.

    A) I attack a model, throw 5 dices to a single model, at least one dice hits the model, I can attack second model within 6” reducing the number of shots by 1, repeat.

    B) I attack a model, throw 1 dice to a single model, if dice hits the model I can continue second dice to same model or another…[Read more]
