Peter replied to the topic Confusion regarding Torpedoes, and the Devastating rule in the forum Victory At Sea 2 years, 4 months ago
Good Morning. I do not understand where one rolls a D6 for amount of damage to the target vessel. There is no statement in this roll in the rules. Please refer to page 45 of the rulebook.
The way I play this rule is it is a logical progression of the damage chart.
Request thoughts on this rule query.

I am annoyed that Warload Games has continually pushed back when the Italian Fleet will be released. I was going to get these as a naval link to my North African campaign. This was the main reason I got into Victory at Sea.

Thank you for the prompt response. I re-read the movement rules last night and found my mistake in regards to the one (1) inch rule. I apologize for my error.
Respectfully,
Pete.

Good Evening. My name is Pete. My residence is New York State. I have been a historical gamer since I was in high school forty plus (40+) years ago. There has not been a set of rules I have not bought or tried. Currently, I am new to the Victory at Sea rule set. Therefore, I am unsure of the game mechanics.
Respectfully,
Pete.

Good Evening Nat. I downloaded your cheat sheet today. It is helpful in speeding up play. I definitely like how you did the gunnery chart.
However, I noticed a discrepancy in the Movement section. It reads, “Move ship at least 1″ unless ‘run aground’, flank speed of 0″ or anchored” (FAQ March 2021). Ships must move 2″ unless they have the ‘agile’…[Read more]

Therefore as stated in my first query, torpedoes are useless in the game.

Thank you for your response Nat. this still does not answer my previous query about modifiers.

Thank you for this clarification. This needs to be written into the rules so players understand the usage.

On page twelve (12), under radar it states, “Ships committed to scouting with the Radar trait (see page 22) gain =1to their dice roll and can re-roll their dice” (Sprange). If one goes to page twenty two (22), there is no mention of this anywhere in the writing. Need to clarify.
Respectfully,
Pete.

I do not understand the torpedo rules. In both the quick start and full rules, the use of torpedoes is to me useless. Case in point: start at 4+, extreme range -2, large silhouette +1, weapon is a -2. torpedo. This equals -7 (no hits).
Another example, 4+, long range -1 weapon is a torpedo -2. Same as above.
If you are only to use the-2, then…[Read more]
