I’ve noticed the MP 38 in the Afrika Korp plastics is smaller than the one on the new Veterans sprue. And yet the Veterans MG 34 drum magazine carrier is smaller than the one in the Winter German sprue. No more just grabbing bits from the parts box without checking . Reminds me of 1/35 scale modelling back in the late 70s , lots of variation in…[Read more]

I always figured that you’ll never get anything if you don’t ask . And the more people that ask would be more incentive for companies to make something . I once asked a company if I could just buy a certain piece out of one of their aftermarket stowage sets , mind you I wanted a dozen of them . They gave me a price ,it was a little steep , but I…[Read more]

I was hoping a number of people would chime in saying they were looking for some too , and maybe get Warlord to release a blister pack of various track pieces and spare wheels for specific tanks . I think that new plastic/resin stuff the rereleased tank crews come in would be perfect to mold track in . Would be nice to have a Panzer III & IV set…[Read more]

Any one know of any companies that sell after market metal , brass or resin Panzer 3/4 type or T-34 style track ? I’m replicating some Eastern front Panzers and need a lot more track pieces than come in the Warlord or Rubicon stowage sets . Thanks

Jim Ripley started the topic What Older Tank Kits Would You Like To See Retooled ? in the forum Bolt Action 3 months ago
Just built a 3 pack of the Panzer IV B/C/D , what a beautiful kit . Ok , it could of had separate turret side hatches and maybe the tropical engine deck seen on Ds in Afrika , but beautiful non the less . Way better than the Panzer IV G/H . That kit needs a redo . So does the T34 . The upper engine deck is wrong with the hatch being too small .…[Read more]

I’ve always found the resin kits to be lacking in the instruction department , ie , the instructions for a field gun is one line drawing which hides most of the detail behind the gun shield . Not to mention the various unknown pewter bits and pieces . Is that flash or part of the kit , the instructions aren’t clear . I’ve built several guns b…[Read more]

Just a heads up guys . Both Jagdtiger kits I have built and one my friend has built are missing the bow mg piece . Nothing loose in box or bag , just not molded on the sprue . Its not a problem for me as I have a very deep parts box , but new comers to the hobby might feel different . Check your molds Warlord

Jim Ripley started the topic 13 th Waffen SS decals ? in the forum Bolt Action 6 months ago
I’ve want to use those heads wearing the fez off the Waffen SS plastic sprue on some figures seated in the rear of an Opel Blitz truck . The problem I’m having is finding the correct unit decals for the vehicle . Does anyone know if any of the individual decal sets . or maybe one of the plastic kits has the 13 th Waffen SS Handschar decals ?

A big thank you to the Warlord staff for replacing a missing resin turret . Note to all overseas mail customers , make sure you get rid of all your old addresses on file as sometimes your parts go a stray . After a couple of trys , success , I can now finish my kit . Again, thank you Jim Ripley

Jim Ripley started the topic Info needed on Sherman DD in the forum Bolt Action a year ago
Thinking about a D Day diorama using the Sherman DD resin kit and seem to remember that there used to be a waterline version . Can’t seem to find it , was I imagining things ? Also , is all the stowage molded on to the kits or is it separate pieces ? Way too much clutter IMO compared to beach photos I’ve seen .
Is there a 3D or resin/ pewter k…[Read more]

But it should be easier to fix / change with green stuff than having to resort to surgery , at least that’s what I keep telling myself

Wargames Atlantic Panzer Lehr troops ? Short tunics , long sleeves , short boots / gaiters . The bodies have flat necks so swapping heads with BA parts is a little tricky sometimes , I picked up a few of WA various WW1 /2 sprues for kit bashing purposes

Nice up grade of detail over the older ( 7 -8 years ago ? ) Panzer IV G – H kit . crisper detail on the fender tools , much nicer drive sprocket and idler wheel as well much finer detail on the track . I like the way they split upper hull into crew compartment ( 2 types ) and the solid panel engine deck , it’s a shame they couldn’t have giv…[Read more]

Jim Ripley replied to the topic British/Canadian '43-'45 starter set. Couple of questions about the Churchill in the forum Bolt Action 2 years ago
While the Churchill kit gives you the Petard mortar , you still have to scratch build the side mounting brackets for AVRE equipment ( red ) and change the bow gunners hatch ( blue ) . S&S models make these pieces in pewter . Wish I’ld known that before I scratch built the pieces for mine

Still looking for info on this kit . And wasn’t there a water line version of the DD with raised screens at one time or am I imaging things ?

Jim Ripley started the topic Sherman V DD question in the forum Bolt Action 2 years ago
Do the resin Sherman V DD kits ( screens lowered , and no screens ) come with all that stowage clutter molded on , or is it separate pieces ? I have an idea for a beach landing diorama and I want to make the resin tank match the one in the picture I’m using as reference

So just the round hatches ( gunner /commander ) can be shown open , thanks . Was hoping the large square crew hatch was also a separate piece , will have to rethink my plans ….. was going to use the newish Bad Squido winter tank riders and tank crew figures . Keep hoping Warlord / Italeri will release a plastic one as they have the lower h…[Read more]

Just wondering if anyone can tell me how many roof hatches of these beasts are separate pieces . I have an idea for a diorama which needs open hatches and crew figures , and really don’t want to have to drill out resin . If at all possible a picture of the unbuilt kit roof would be appreciated. All I can find on google is 1/72 and 1/35 kits . Thanks

Only ones I have seen are on the sprues of the new plastic figure sets ( Cowboys & Cowgirls ) for Dead Mans Hand . IRC you get 2 per sprue , and they come “broken ” in 2 pieces so you can model them being reloaded .

Jim Ripley replied to the topic Kit Bashing Figures – Easy Peasy or a PIA ? in the forum Bolt Action 3 years ago
I build my figures to fit in a specific spot on a specific tank so I tend to glue them on . That being said I do have a few generic seated figures that can be put anywhere if needed . I have had a few ideas for removable figure groups though . Tiny rice grain sized magnets might work in the figures feet if the plastic engine deck is very th…[Read more]
