Page 101 of the rulebook, if a vehicle rolls a Fubar result and then a panic on the Fubar chart, it simply counts as having failed it’s order- it makes a reverse move and goes down.
The reverse move is also half the standard advance rate so in the Panzer’s case about 4.5 inches so it would not go off the board. Hope this helps

This has become a very interesting conversation. I can see both sides of the story and I’m going to add another spanner in the works. If this unit does only get one order dice and we are to treat the unit like a unit of Kradschutzen ie they must remain within 3” of each other. Then how would damage be worked out on the unit of vehicles. Obviously you roll to hit the unit and then roll to damage but how do you allocate damage to a unit of vehicles. If it’s treated the same as another unit (infantry or bikers) then the owner of the unit is free to decide who he takes off unless it’s exceptional damage. If it was a single vehicle then that vehicle is the only target and any damage caused is obviously allocated to said vehicle. Say for example you target the unit and hit it 6 times, you roll for damage and get to 6’s which means two rolls on the the vehicle damage chart. Do you then place them on only one vehicle (and who chooses which vehicles) or can you spread the damage over two vehicles?

    Hey Eric,

Thanks for clearing that up. Could you also clear up what the Recon Vehicle special rule is please?
So just to confirm, one order dice for the Gruppe, all vehicles must remain within 3″ of each other like the Bren carriers transporting one infantry unit. I’m also guessing they have to fire at the same target too?

    Thanks for replying

The normal command vehicle rule only effects armoured vehicles. But in this case the Command vehicle of the Gruppe effects all units in the Aufklärungs Gruppe and the Krad motorbike units (within 12″ I think). So it is actually relevent for the unit
After all these questions and replys I was hoping that Someone from Warlord Games would have shown an interest and given their take on things.
    Come on Warlord…..

I havent run it yet, but an Armoured platoon fits the profile better I think. As there is a Command vehicle included in the selection to start with it makes more sense in my eyes.
The only outher issue I have with this is the Recon Vehicle rule everyone is assuming that it means Recce? I cant see anything in the main rulebook that describes this rule.

I’d ditch the Tank and put more bodies into your list personally. Bamboo warriors whilst looking good/ cheap on paper don’t last very long being inexperienced and using the Banzai rule to advance them means they will be a nice fat target. Maybe place the Flame thrower in a squad of Engineers (Vets) to make it harder to take out.

Just Tank rider squads can ride tanks in the Russian lists. The Germans also get a squad that can ride on Assault guns, but not tanks.

Yeah I heard both sides to this. Maybe Eric Fontaine or someone else from Warlord Games might be able to help out on this matter. It’s frustrating, Western Desert Campaign has been out a while now and there are so many holes in the rules but nothing has been addressed. I prefer the Armour platoon version of the rules I must admit.
With regards to your house rules having to keep your cars all within 1″ of each other is pretty harsh, I would say 3″ would be better (like multiple transports for an Infantry squad). If I don’t get an answer form Warlord on here I will try e-mailing direct.
But thx for your help and input

Could someone explain to me how the German Aufklärungs Gruppe squad works please. Its available in the Western desert Campaign as an Armoured Car slot but the Aufklärungs Gruppe actually can consist of 3-5 cars.
I’ve heard several explanations on how they would work i.e. One order dice to activate all vehicles together which remain within 3″ of each other, to each vehicle of the Gruppe actually getting a separate order dice and are free to move in whatever direction they wish. Any help/ advice would be much appreciated.

Also what is the Recon Vehicle rule? I’m presuming it actually means recce rule as this was their primary role in 1942 but some clarification would be nice

    Cheers
    Nick
