Master Chief replied to the topic One man turret – rule question in the forum Bolt Action 4 years, 1 month ago
Haha I gather that’s because it can fire its mmg (360°) and burn any infantry in its front arc at the same time 😂

The attached screenshot is from the more recent Overlord book.

I found the entry in the Battleground Europe book, and attach the screenshot. The last sentence is removed.

The “main gun” refers to its turret mounted light AT gun. I do think the “rear-mg” is a typo and should refer to its co-axial mg.

I received my arc of fire templates from Warbases today. I ordered one each of the 40mm, 50mm and 60mm templates. Attached 2 photos of the 50mm template in use.

Master Chief replied to the topic Hidden units and varius markers in the forum Bolt Action 4 years, 1 month ago
Nice, good work done. I am looking for a decent turret jammed marker to replace the Warlord ones. Inlike your hidden unit marker, reminds me of the ones used in the old Squad Leader game.

Hi no, I found the picture on the internet, although I do have both boxed sets.

Perry’s plastic 8th Army are ok, but thinner than the bulky Warlord ones. Height wise they are the same.

Page 115 of 2nd Edition:
Transport vehicles can carry infantry units up to a specified maximum number of men. A single vehicle can transport any number of entire units so long as the totalnumber of models aboard does not exceed the vehicle’s carrying capacity. A unit cannot be divided between two or more transports.

There is one here.
I think the model looks nicer if it is holding the bible, so other models will require some customisation.

Master Chief replied to the topic Question about equiping Nid-late war US Marine NCOs with pistols in the forum Bolt Action 4 years, 2 months ago
Haha you are assuming the player spends 3 points to give the NCO the SMG, which wouldn’t be the case if he could be given a pistol for +1 point instead.
But I do agree that NCO’s weapons are specifically mentioned, and all other mention of “men” exclude the NCO. That’s how we have been playing it.

Master Chief replied to the topic Laser Pointers in the forum Bolt Action 4 years, 2 months ago
Hi, the length of the line is variable and depends on the height the pointer is held above the table. The higher the longer the line. It should be able to measure anything within the standard 6×4 table.

I found an image of how the laser line is used in wargaming.

Master Chief replied to the topic Question about equiping Nid-late war US Marine NCOs with pistols in the forum Bolt Action 4 years, 2 months ago
Yes I agree with Stuart and that’s how we have played it too. We have always (implicitly) thought “men” excluded the NCO, but started thinking after this was raised here. Consider the entry for US Regular Infantry Squad in the Armies of US book:
REGULAR INFANTRY SQUAD (LATE-WAR)
Cost: Regular Infantry 60pts.
Composition: 1 NCO and 5 men
Weapons:…[Read more] -

The difference:
<p style=”text-align: left;”>Laser line: Creates a thin red line between the firer and target. If the lime crosses any obstacle, line of sight is blocked. You hold the pointer in the air between the firer and target, and shine it onto the map.</p>
Laser point: Creates a red dot on the target. If the line of sight is blocked by…[Read more] -
Master Chief replied to the topic Question about equiping Nid-late war US Marine NCOs with pistols in the forum Bolt Action 4 years, 2 months ago
I believe the intention is to exclude the NCO, but the wording seems to allow equipping the NCO with a pistol. The same conundrum applies to other nations and other weapons as well e.g. up to 1 man can be equipped with an LMG for 20 points.

Good idea to use a template. I did a quick search and found this on the market. They come in different sizes, to fit different sized vehicles.

Master Chief replied to the topic Loss of squad leader in the forum Bolt Action 4 years, 3 months ago
As I understand it the loss of the NCO does not mean the squad becomes inexperienced. For example a veteran squad losing its NCO would take morale checks at 9 instead of 10. It just decreases the morale by 1. It should not affect the squad’s shooting.

Good question, but seriously, how often (if ever) does this really happen? I have never seen this come up in our club’s games.
That’s probably true but it can still happen. One could also ask how often do you see a Chaffee take out a King Tiger from the front? I have only seen it happen once so far, and we nicknamed that tank “Lucky Chaffee” 😊
