Master Chief replied to the topic Clearing Barbed Wire using Bangalore Torpedoes in the forum Bolt Action 4 years, 3 months ago
Thanks, I agree. The minefield rules across the books (Battleground, Duel and Western Desert) are consistent. The “confusion” arises on how these rules are to be applied to clearing barbed wire, specifically using bangalore torpedoes.
The “special rules” for bangalore torpedoes that appear in the stats for many engineer units in the Overlord book…[Read more]

This is similar to my question on clearing barbed wire using bangalore torpedoes.
Explosives: Armed with rings of explosives, these engineers can blow up all manner of fortification. Used in the same way HE is used to blow up buildings, bunkers, bridges minefields, or tank traps. Explosives have an HE rating of 4″ using 3d6 to blow up these…[Read more]

Thanks, but Easy Army only tries to put in the rules, it is not the rulebook. Where did Easy Army get the 2D6 from? The “Blowing it Up” section should be used only for weapons, because it mentions to use the HE value of the “weapon”, and I do not think bangalore torpedoes have a HE value. This leads me to think it should point to “Manual clearing”…[Read more]

I was thinking the “bangalore torpedo” special rule” was refering to this (I made changes in italics):
Overlord book, page 195
MANUAL
MINEBARBED WIRE CLEARANCE BY INFANTRY
Any infantry unit that has at least five modelsinsidenear aminefieldbarbed wire can be ordered to attempt to clear it using their
bayonetscutters. The unit must be…[Read more] -

Has anyone used bangalore torpedoes to clear barbed wire before? The process requires the engineer unit to “advance at least 2 inches away from the target (in this case the barb wire) and test” to see if the wire is removed … I assume this refers to rolling a 6 to clear it, with +2 modifier for using bangalore torpedoes.

Master Chief replied to the topic Vehicle crew stunned in the forum Bolt Action 4 years, 4 months ago
The “crew is stunned” part is just a lead in descriptive. In Bolt Action rule terms you just give the tank 1 more pin, and flip its Order die to “Down” if it has one, or take one out from the bag and give it a “Down” if it does not already have one. This simulates the crew not being able to do anything for the rest of the turn.

Yes it should have both transport and tow capabilities while the 250/9 does not.

Master Chief replied to the topic Turret turn in the forum Bolt Action 4 years, 4 months ago
I believe the turret gives a tank 360° arc of fire, with no penalties. As for MGs, I do not think they give 2 pins.

I am guessing the door hinges are on the left of the door (when you are outside the truck looking straight at the driver’s door), and not on the right where they usually are. So the door swings open “clockwise” and not the usual anti-clockwise.

This may have been raised before. I was looking through the Tank War book and came across this Commander ability:
Eagle Eye: Play when this vehicle is nominated as a target of a
ranged attack or assault. If this vehicle has LOS (line of sight) to
the attacker, it may react by shooting at the attacker with any one weapon that has LOS to the…[Read more] -

Master Chief replied to the topic Units on transport in the forum Bolt Action 4 years, 4 months ago
Haha I think you can still roll 2 dice and apply both results … one after the other, unless of course the first one destroys the vehicle. I do Stuart’s point about applying all damage dice simultaneously instead of sequentially. But I have always thought all hits from a single firing unit on a single target will score only 1 pin regardless of…[Read more]

Wow, there are rules hidden all over the place 😂 So no Pen for the D6 hits that passengers take for a vehicle being destroyed 👍

Master Chief replied to the topic Units on transport in the forum Bolt Action 4 years, 4 months ago
<p style=”text-align: left;”>My view isnthe “as per normal” refers to the normal way passengers are affected when a transport is destroyed i.e. take D6 damage and immediately disembark. It doesn’t say anything about adding Pen values, so it is just D6.</p>

Open-topped apply only to armoured vehicles (7+), not to soft-skinned (6).
Haha silly me, I never noticed 🤦♂️

Master Chief replied to the topic Units on transport in the forum Bolt Action 4 years, 4 months ago
I thought that fire from the same unit at a single target, regardless of number of weapons used, will only cause 1 pin if hit. In this case one of the hits destroyed the transport, so the panzerfaust shouldn’t cause another pin right?
-
Master Chief replied to the topic Small arms vs Open top in the forum Bolt Action 4 years, 4 months ago
For open topped armoured vehicles, small arms can only pin them (see attached page 118). Sniper fire against soft-skinned open top vehicles will destroy the vehicle when it scores damage. For armoured open top vehicles it can only pin.

Master Chief replied to the topic Units on transport in the forum Bolt Action 4 years, 4 months ago
Refer to 2nd edition page 116 (attached screenshot), the passengers should take the same number of pins.
For your 2nd question, we normally roll dice for each weapon type separately to determine which weapon hits/damages (although this might happen differently in reality where weapons are fired simultaneously). This is done as each weapon type…[Read more]
