Master Chief replied to the topic V3: Forward Observer counts as Spotter as per p. 102, regarding being "Down"? in the forum Bolt Action 3 weeks, 6 days ago
Haha yes, so we shall see whether in 3rd Ed will Warlord Games also “extrapolate” the rules for Officer and HQ Units in transport to that of Spotters in transports as well? Or will they say something else and disallow spotting from soft-skinned and open-topped vehicles?
Yes I had seen in some of the campaign books that US spotters were allowed in…[Read more]

Master Chief replied to the topic V3: Forward Observer counts as Spotter as per p. 102, regarding being "Down"? in the forum Bolt Action 4 weeks ago
The reason I asked is because in the 2nd Edition FAQs this is exactly the explanation given for spotters not being able to spot from transports … because officers and HQ units’ abilities do not affect units outside the transport 🤷♂️ I believe in the 2nd Edition there was only one German vehicular unit that can act as a mobile…[Read more]

While on the topic of spotters, do the new 3rd Edition rules on page 147 regarding the ability of officers and other HQ units on transports mean that spotters on transports can spot? (One of the current 3rd Ed FAQs also mentioned that the spotter’s ability is a passive ability that is “always on”)

Master Chief replied to the topic Rules Question: Hitting squad behind hard cover. in the forum Bolt Action 1 year, 3 months ago
Your M5 Stuart with 18 shots …
Are you referring to the M3 Stuart?
The errata gives it 1 hull-mounted MMG, + 1 coaxial MMG (2×5 shots), option to take 2x hull-mounted LMGs (2×4 shots)? I don’t think the M5 Stuart has these options 🤔

Academy of Street Fighting, page 2:
On an Advance or Fire action, a unit may elect to throw a hand grenade instead. Resolve a 1” HE attack against a target within 6”.

On the box cover it says “WW2 Infantry in desert gear“, so I guess some “work” on your part will be needed.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>Bolt Action latest FAQ under erratas for D-Day Overlord:</p>
The Dug-in rules should be as follows:
Dug In gives you the benefits of being Down (-2 to be hit, halves HE hits), and if you issue a Down order, you double the benefits (-4 to be hit, quarters HE). -

Master Chief replied to the topic Sniper in the forum Bolt Action 3 years, 7 months ago
Yea, hence he is no longer a “sniper” is also in quotes 😄 Technically he becomes a 1-man LMG “team”, although still called a “lone sniper”.
-
Master Chief replied to the topic Sniper in the forum Bolt Action 3 years, 7 months ago
…however if he ‘upgrades’ to an LMG he goes back to taking a team weapon without a crew so suffers the -1.
Yes, and he will no longer be a “sniper” and does not do exceptional damage (as clarified in the latest FAQ).

The Polish “Marksman” unit is a one-man sniper “team” that does not have the Team special rule, so he shoots without the -1 penalty.

Bolt Action 2nd Ed page 67:
Any unit hit by a flamethrower takes 1 pin marker because it has been hit, and a further D3 pin markers to account for the unbridled terror unleashed upon it, for a total of D3+1 pin markers on the target.

Note that if a weapon/rule applies pin markers automatically, and/or does not have a known Pen…[Read more]

@Nat haha yes, and also because to some of the “super smart, know-it-all, war veteran” players, this is so obvious that it does not warrant one, if you know what I mean 😉
