Welcome Oliver!
Some replies to your questions are embedded below.>>some modells are currently undergoing a Re Sculpt, with the new sculpts beeing shown a few days ago at Facebook. Is it only a few reworks, or is the range as a whole redone?
The models shown were just the Isorian phase squad. We won’t know what’s going to happen with Antares for a few months, at least, as any V2 was badly hit by CoViD, putting it back by at least two years: like every other company we need to reexamine what we’re doing in light of what’s happening now. Sorry I can’t be more specific!>>I did check different retailers and nearly everything is marked as out of production.
All I can suggest is that you check the Warlord store’s Antares pages (https://store.warlordgames.com/collections/beyond-the-gates-of-antares) for anything you might want. If something is out of stock, either click the ‘reminder’ box or contact the help desk (info@warlordgames.com).>> From what i have heard, some official some half official, sources, developement of the rules is ongoing, and Re releases are planned.
Version 2 was largely tested and was down to low-level tinkering. Up until CoViD shook the world we also regularly checked rules and issues updates to BtGoA as and when they were needed. I know nothing of any ‘Re release’ plans, so it sounds like a rumour. It might help to know that the only real source of information is announcements via the Warlord emails, which will be echoed here or on the Facebook group.>> What happened to the quickstart rules? Having a link at the homepage leading to an error on the webstore is not exactly reassuring i have to admit.
I’ve tried the links I know of on the webstore and they appear to lead to the quickstart rules. Can I suggest you send the link url and the page where it is to the help desk (info@warlordgames.com) so they can let the web team know and track any fix? I’ve also just checked https://www.gatesofantares.com/quick-start-rules-pdfs/ and there are links to all the quick start rules pages, as well as Base One, which is a cut down but still highly functional version of Antares.>> And last but not least, is there a good army builder out there? Battlescribe seems to work, but Looks a bit out dated.
It may well be. I use Army Builder, which is pretty solid, and Rick’s system (pencil and paper) from the latest lists (FAQ, errata and lists are all on Rules Central). Support for Battlescribe and AB is on Facebook and its best submitting requests there as neither are Warlord products (https://www.facebook.com/groups/547335118761237 and https://www.facebook.com/ABDataFileWarlordGames).Hope this helps, and have fun!
June 8, 2021 at 4:01 pm #185651Tim BancroftKeymasterThanks, and pleased you enjoyed them. Once a few hiccups have been sorted we’ll get round to putting the relevant info on the Nexus in a downloadable form. 🙂
September 30, 2020 at 12:51 pm #181995Tim BancroftKeymasterIt might be better to email support @ warlordgames.com for recommendations on the store functionality.
For Antares novels, though, Warlord have no knowledge, control or visibility of anything upcoming. Zmok/Winged Hussar would be the place to go.

September 14, 2020 at 11:35 am #181576Tim BancroftKeymasterHmmm, it’s not just that. Given they lack pistols, they should be 38 points, too. So the stat line should be H2H “7” and Points “38” as the upgrade is to have pistols @ 1pt for 39 (the poinst cost upgrade for pistols is wrong, too).
And, yes, I have a Northern army, but I’m just extending it with another couple of units.

September 3, 2020 at 8:20 pm #181277Tim BancroftKeymasterThat’s a neat variant of a common way of fixing the pegs and saves the drilling out into the peg for a metal pin.
I’m clumsy so quickly break the stands. So once they go I then drill out using a 2.9/3mm drill and insert the whole of the broken-off flight stand a few millimetres.
August 17, 2020 at 11:49 am #180738Tim BancroftKeymasterThe best contact would be the helpdesk, either via email (info@warlordgames.com) or via phone (0115 978 4495) as they will know or be able to find out better than anyone.
Whilst the Tsan are being remodelled there are currently no hard plans as to their format other than they might be plastic or resin. The CoViD-19 measures have (luckily) allowed a major rethink.
July 29, 2020 at 8:41 am #180219Tim BancroftKeymasterDue to production/print lead times, V2 will be at least 6-9 months from the end of any CoViD furlough, which now means mid-2021 at the earliest. So buying the Kar’A Nine starter might be great if you want to run with Algoryn or Concord or want relatively chap access to the rulebook and templates. The K9 box originally had the mini-rulebook but now has the full-size one normally when ordered from Warlord or when the latest version is bought. Mind you, Xilos Horizon has two full squads of Ghar suits plus the C3 (and I actually found it a lot of fun and it’s how I really bit into the game).
Otherwise, run as Zac suggested: get a starter then an army box for the faction(s) you really want rather than 2×Kar’A Nine.
The Antares Nexus might also help as it has a getting started section: https://www.gatesofantares.com/category/resources/getting-started/. There is also a Rules section with latest and regularly updated FAQs, rules amendments, etc.
As for Rebels vs Empire: Rebels have a few more special rules to handle over that of the Empire but not many. They can be awkward to play for newcomers as the squads have so many options and different weapons and the model count is higher. I’d recommend using the latest Games Day rules mods on the Nexus.
June 18, 2020 at 3:39 pm #179205Tim BancroftKeymasterThere’s not normally a gap unless the back is put on upside down. Effectively the circular bit hangs down at the front and the back of the neck is really high with the vents pointing slightly downwards.
There should be an assembly guide on the back of the box, otherwise, your best bet is contacting the help desk.
June 5, 2020 at 7:56 pm #178850Tim BancroftKeymasterThere are a load of quick ref sheets duplicating a lot of that as well as the up-to-date army lists on the Rules Central page on the Antares Nexus:
https://www.gatesofantares.com/rules/April 5, 2020 at 6:25 pm #176566Tim BancroftKeymasterDuring the COVID hiatus, I’m continuing to publish background material and solo- or play-at-home scenarios, rules and material.
First off, we’ve invited players to write action fiction for Antares in an short (500-1000 words) fiction competition: https://www.gatesofantares.com/fiction-invitation/
And to support that, some useful background on the greatest of all treasures, Gatebuilder Artefacts: https://www.gatesofantares.com/gatebuilder-ruins-artefacts/
We’ve also published a pair of solo scenarios – a Gulper Safari (https://www.gatesofantares.com/scenario-gulper-safari/) and an assault on an nanofactory defended by turretr drones or weapon emplacements (https://www.gatesofantares.com/scenario-gauntlet/)
Mathias Hanisch (Vacui), from Bavaria, Germany loves the universe of Antares and is playing it a lot in his local store. He’s also a musician and decided to make an EP of electronic music inspired by the lore of Antares: https://soundcloud.com/tearsinvoid/sets/inside-the-machine
Lastly, the Freeborn Shard have another episode interviewing the TableTop Warlords: https://anchor.fm/the-freeborn-shard/episodes/2-1-The-TableTop-Warlords-ecdgis
January 27, 2020 at 10:55 am #173654Tim BancroftKeymasterExcellent – and welcome. There’s a lot of activity on the Facebook group (if you’re on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/gatesofantares/) and plenty of great advice. Otherwise, do ask here.
Do check out the Nexus, too: https://www.gatesofantares.com/.

September 8, 2019 at 11:24 am #168072Tim BancroftKeymasterNet ammo has never had a buff, but it has had a downgrade as it was originally far too powerful.
OH weapons with a double template such as the mag mortar are deadly, too, as they rarely ever miss. Further, given the final size of the vehicles (as Rick has pointed out), the OH weapons have become a deadly anti-vehicle defence as they rarely miss on a fire order.
The main advantage on using special munitions with an X-howitzer is range. In general, the special munitions options are also there for providing the capability for an army who only wishes to take one of the OH weapons rather than using the more effective option of an x-launcher for special munitions and an X-howitzer/Mag Mortar for Net or explosives.
