So you have a gaming group that has a wide range of player types, so casual, so veteran , some new to the game , all would like to get into some kind of campaign game but they are all over the map … what ya going to do ?
Try a “Handicap” campaign … no set force or era restrictions, it an open bring and play system with all agreeing to a starting point level … say 1000 points … that’s the only thing that had to be kept track of, your current point total …
Win a game, Lose 25 points from your total …
Lose a game, gain 25 points to your total …As you win to are spread out to cover more territory and your supplied lines are stretched … lose and the opposite …
Thus winners will not ‘run away’ from the group with victory bonuses making them unlikable and losing a few games is not the end of the world because you’ll have more points to have a go next time … built in player balance for the group and casual players or late to.jion players are not punished just because job/family/life gets in the way …
So by way of example one player wins his first 3 games and drops to 925 available points taking the lead in the campaign with the lowest score … another new player might lose, win, lose to get bumped to 1025 points … if the two play at this point the new player would have a 100 point advantage over the seasoned veteran and the vet will still be challenged by a newer player forcing him to work for that win …
Food for thought …
