Does this plus or minus go towards the to hit modifier roll or the, to damage value ?roll

See p61, Weapons, Pen, second sentence – “This number is added to the roll to damage against all targets.”
This is the Pen characteristic of the weapon.
and,
See p106, Vehicles, Shooting at Vehicles, Damage vs Armoured Targets, second para, first sentence – “When shooting against armoured vehicles with a heavy weapon, the following penetration modifiers apply in addition to the weapon’s own modifier…”
These are Pen modifiers, and as they are added to the above weapon characteristic also only apply to the roll to damage.
Important point – Pen is “…against all targets…”, Pen modifiers is “… with a heavy weapon against armoured targets…” – if it’s not a heavy weapon, or the target isn’t 7+ or better, no pen modifiers, just straight Pen if the weapon has one.

July 28, 2018 at 11:38 am #142187Stuart HarrisonParticipant“To damage” – they have no bearing on “to hit” at all.
July 28, 2018 at 2:13 pm #142190BoazParticipantTheir is a damage roll and a damage result roll … all penetration modifiers are added/subtracted from the (to) damage roll and not the damage result chart … see bottom of damage result chart for its roll modifiers.
