Dear all,
In V2 and V3, the bersaglieri unit have 11 men with 2 lmg but no in campaign Case blue with 16 men ! Why ?
<p style=”text-align: left;”>In New french list for V3, the french tanks D1 and D2 have not the special rule “all armoured around” why ? In front and on flank, they have 40 mm for the 2 models !</p>October 31, 2024 at 2:51 pm #190602NatParticipantthe v3 get-you-by lists are copy and pastes with minor CORE rule changes from the armies of books … historical unit changes werent updated – even those that have been in the v2 FAQ for YEARS!
The campaign book corrections likewise havent been factored in to the get-you-by lists…
We currently dont have any dates for when the minor nations will be updated to v3 properly – but the 5th of the major nations is January 2026, so most likely after that 🙁
-And yes thats the answer to both your questions, please dont think too much about the stats – Bolt Action is history past through the filters of comic books, ‘common knowedge’ & films rather than a historical simulation…

So, if you wanted to use some of the V2 books like Case Blue for the Italians, you could simply run their profile through the program to get the “cost” for the unit.

1) most game systems keep points cost calculations in-house to stop people creating their own units that can then break the systems. We can extrapulate a number of the costs but with tanks you have roundings and (hopefully) proportional costs so costs from that wont be exact. To put a build your own tank program out is bad for the part of buisness of selling books.
2) what we have in BA v3 is get-you-by lists only that give us enough options to field 90%+ of what WL produce / sell model wise. We’ll see end of january with the release of the german book just how much is ported over from v2 from the campaign books. <fingers crossed>- This reply was modified 2 weeks, 6 days ago by Nat.

Unit profiles ultimately end up in the army builder software packages that almost everyone I know uses, so there is no reason to buy a book for a unit profile. The problem is units that don’t have profiles.
I would rather see army books focus on the armies themselves rather than unit profiles. How the army changed, when certain units became available (without the profiles) simply showing when they showed up and where.
Campaign books focused on the campaigns with scenarios to simulate features of the campaign and discuss any special rules that apply to the army because of unique aspects of the campaign.
Instead, I tend to shy away from buying many of the books because of how they are done.
I think Warlord leaves a lot of money on the table. I do think their new subscription army builder software will be “home run” and at some point, incorporating more “value” into the software will be more important, than trying to extract some marginal revenue from selling a few books.
