I did a lot with “Hardware” in the last weeks (like bicornes, spiked helmets), so little modelling. But yesterday I did two bikes for my Blitzkrieg Germans.
The Kradschützen served together with the Panzer Division recce units. Most had been converted pre war from cavalry units. They had a bad driver / fighter ratio of one for two and had problems away from streets. In Africa and Russia they lost a lot material.
In 1942 most got converted into recce Panzergrenadiere or armored recce.Late war the bikes are no longer Kradschützen but transport for staff, messengers, mechanics and similar.

Like the tanks they normally did a “Schießhalt”, a stop for aiming and Shooting.Attachments:

In 1941 Kradschützenkompanie the
Gruppe had
3 Drivers with K98 for the 3 sidecar bikes
a leader with SMG in sidecar
5 men ( 2 with LMG and pistol in sidecar and 3 with K98 on backseat)—-
Singles got used by Melder (transporting Messages) that served the Kompanie and Zug HQs. The Zugführer rode in a car.October 14, 2018 at 6:11 pm #148555Alan EvansParticipantI bet that army would be a lot of fun to play!
