As I said you need to take the rules seriously but not literally, what p. 78 actually says is that from the front the mixed target is treated as a skirmish or unclear target.
This is not the same as saying the roundshot is stopped by the skirmish line.
In my view this merely represents the effect of the ongoing skirmish fire on the gunners or other firers, which is why this effect of skirmishers has to be limited to 12 inches, as it now is in BP2.
My original post also pointed to the new wording for the mixed formation which seems to imply that the new rule for firing at skrimishers, doesn’t apply to skirmishers in a mixed formation.
All the best

You’re right. It is not the exact same wording. But it means that skirmishers shielded the column or line from the effect of the round shot. So it did have precisely the same effect in the game as saying that arty fire stops at the skirmishers. I took issue with this daft rule and Big Al soon put me straight. Irrelevant now anyway if the rule has changed, plus we ignored it.

They are all in one place. If playing for example Maurice and I have a query I go to that part of his support page and see if the question has been asked before, if it has then it’s easy to find.
I was really looking forward to BB2 placed an order within seconds of the order go live, never got a signed copy (not that bothered really) and now see random questions, comments away from this forum and issues with proof reading etc and hence joined the forum to get an understanding and hopefully find answers in one place. Sam Mustafa may be a one man band but Warlord surely has the resources and obligation to support a new revised project.

We used the new CinC, evade and enfilade rules. All worked well, and were all improvements that keep the game moving forward. Also found the new index very useful (in looking up the evade rules!).
I also thought that the Albion Triumphant 2 special rules worked well for the classic British Line v. French column interaction.
