Hello fellow Bolt Action fans. I just stumbled across this “Different Methods for Activating Units” idea for Bolt Action the other day on Board Game Geek. I also did a quick search here on the official Bolt Action forum to see what people think. Surprisingly, it is not mention… yet.

Anyway, I just had to share this with other Bolt Action fans because even though I haven’t tried it yet, the “Different Methods for Activating Units” document has some great ideas, and we (my gaming club) are really looking forward to trying them. Also, I really like his reasoning for coming up with these ideas because I can relate to it.

Here is the link to the “Different Methods for Activating Units” that I am talking about:

You have to be a BGG member to download the file, so I have PM the author to ask if I can post the document here for those that are not BGG members. But BGG is a great resource, and well worth joining if you are not already. Oh, and it’s free to sign up!

Hello fellow Bolt Action fans. I just stumbled across this “Bolt Action Alliance” idea for Bolt Action the other day while watching a YouTube video where it gets briefly mentioned. I also did a quick search here on the official Bolt Action forum to see what people think. Surprisingly, this is not mentioned.

Anyway, I just had to share this with other Bolt Action fans because even though I haven’t tried any of the missions yet, the “Bolt Action Alliance Mission Pack” document has some great scenario ideas for Bolt Action, and we (my gaming club) are really looking forward to trying them.

Here is the link to the “Bolt Action Alliance Mission Pack” that I am talking about:

Has anyone tried these scenarios? What do you think?

Thanks very much for the link.  They do look very good missions – very well balanced.  After the club’s current Market Garden campaign is over we can give them a try.

We just played one of our best Bolt Action games ever!

We used one of the new scenarios above (still not sure which one is my favorite), and we used one of the different methods for activating units (still not sure which one is my favorite). Anyway, just wanted to share.

Hello fellow Bolt Action fans. The other day I just stumbled across two more “Bolt Action Alliance” scenarios for Bolt Action. My guess is that some of you already know about these, so this is for those that do not know yet – until yesterday, that included me.

Anyway, I just wanted to share this with other Bolt Action fans because even though I have not tried the new 2022 missions yet, they look good and we (my gaming club) are really looking forward to trying them. They are named “Supply Drop” and “Punch Through”. They can be found on their Facebook page:

    Hello fellow BA fans.

So, a friend got me to try out this game called Saga Dark Ages. I’m not keen on ancients gaming, but I played Vikings and really enjoyed the game. I look forward to playing again.

Anyway, what I really liked about the game was the semi-FoW/CaC aspect. You roll special Saga dice and use these to order your units, but your warlord (the leader) has full control over at least one unit. This got me thinking. Has anyone played around with ideas like this for Bolt Action using Bolt Action dice? If so, what ideas have you tried?

Just last weekend one of my gaming buddies showed me this new scenario from Bolt Action Alliance. It is called “The Thin Red Line” and we had a great time playing it.

We also tried it using the one of the different methods for activating units from the document linked above, but this can still be found on BGG. We used the method that assigns tokens to units to add even more fog of warm, but also actually prevents players from doing the “waiting” game.

One note though, The Thin Red Line scenario can be really entertaining if you have a good balanced terrain setup. However, I guess that can be said about any scenario – good or bad.

Besides Facebook, does anyone know if there is any other site to download all the Bolt Action Alliance stuff?
