Down troops and objectives

Can anybody help me out here, I’ve heard down troops can’t hold objectives, but can’t see it in the rules , can anybody help me out here.

Where in the rules does it say they can’t?

Now, there might be a special scenario rule where it says they can’t, but according the to core rules, units (infantry and artillery) with a down order can capture/hold/deny an objective.

I’m pretty sure you can’t see it because there isn’t such a rule, and hasn’t been in either of the two previous editions to the best of my memory.  Next time someone tells you there is, place the onus on them to show you the rule (and please do come back to share if he can show you one).

They may be getting confused with the Demolition mission, p167, which only allows units that are not Down to roll to destroy the enemy base.  In every other instance you need to have one of your units (usually infantry or artillery specified) end it’s activation within a distance of the objective, and have no enemy unit of any type within that distance of the objective – no mention of Down anywhere in the paragraph.
