Why do the American have Garand rifles in 1942/1942, when the majority of the troops Army and Marines were still equipped with Springfield rifles?

So this being a game and to help create a gaming faction identity it makes sense to go with the belief that the bolt action rifle was nearly out the door.
If you look at the US special rules one of them is centred on the garand….and in my view as the US already have a special rule that only applies if you pay for an upgrade on specific units a 2nd would be a bit unfair from a gaming pov

The Early Marines needs to have the Rifle and the Mid/Late Marines needs to have the M1 Garand. The official errata partially fixed this.
For the regular US infantry, it is listed as Early/Mid time frame, so M1 Garands is more appropriate. Had it said Early only, then I agree with you and it should just be Rifles and not M1 Garands.
