As much as I’d love to have enough epic to play any battle available, I just don’t have the time to paint all that.
I’d like to play a battle like Wilson’s creek, but I realized today that the guts and glory box is enough for about one side of that engagement.
Sooooo. What is the minimum people would recommend to play at least a few of the battles in Glory Hallelujah or the ACW book that comes with guts and glory?
As a sidenote. I’d LOVE some speed painting tips. I have Guts and glory and I’m just finishing a union brigade. I would buy gettysburg if there was a way to paint them before I’m old and grey (too late).
TIA

I would recommend starting a few games as soon as you’ve enough for a couple of brigades for each side. This will help you get used to the rules and the special Glory Hallelujah rules. As you get more figures painted you can play bigger battles, which should be easier / more fun as you built up experience with the rules. Three brigades a side is fine size for fun afternoon’s game for two people.
I have never reached the nirvana of finished for a collection – there is always room for more :0) .

I don’t worry too much about painting every little detail as some of it will not be seen at 3 feet away!! That and I want to get it on the table to play quickly! Tabletop standard is just fine by me at this scale!!
