French Epic Battles

I purchased the French epic battles starter and the infantry sprues have about 50:50 greatcoats v uniform. I have never been a fan of greatcoat on mini’s to me it’s lazy.

What are ppl doing? Having mixed uniforms in each battalion (hiding greatcoats in the second rank)? I’m thinking of splitting them out and having battalions of greatcoats and battalions without.

Greatcoats were a “great” way of uniforming troops cheaply, used a lot as supplies became stretched.
All in one unit would be a good way of representing lower quality troops
