A question for those of us who use the Glory Hallelujah supplement – what benefit does the “Whipped” option bring to your games?

The point is we felt that removing units when they failed a morale test and got simply removed seemed a bit harsh – and un-ACW when units that had taken a real pounding still hung on – often for hours. The hornets nest and Thomas’ boys at Chikamuaga spring to mind.
Whipped means that the unit stays on the field. Remember it can still shoot, and if in cover it can stay where it is: behind a wall, in field works etc… Hence the only way to shift them and destroy them properly is with the bayonet. Good luck persuading a unit that’s “seen the elephant” to do that! Get some uppity newcomers onto that job.

Garry

At Antietam it’s the sunken lane – perhaps equivalent to a wall. Just call it on the day, but make sure everyone understands!
