Q: what class is this ship?

asking as there seems no record of a Japanese minesweeper of this class listed where I can find it, and no “escort” ship with this weapons configuration.

Asking just so I can find a name and number for one

They where definately
About, bariously described as Minesweeper, escort or coastal defense ships, the Warlord one looks like the early war configuration as late war had second gun turret at rear.

my thanks, still doesn’t match the listed weapons, which was likely why I overlooked this one when scanning.

I agree with Mike, it seems to be a Type C Escort (or a Type D which is fairly similar). Dont bother to much about the different AA weaponry, the ships had few AA guns at the beginning of the war and this configuration is often quoted when you look at their armament. In later the ships were modified most of the times they placed smaller caliber AA guns almost everywhere they would fit…
