ParticipantThe material I use is thin metal foil. Stable, good to bring in shape and free , I use the material left over from tubes. Recycling 😉
I add some sample pics, sorry, no chariot one at hand

ParticipantI’m, sorry but did you metal tubes? Is that what we can soda cans here in the USA?

ParticipantNot that thick can stuff but that formerly used on toothpaste tubes. They are today mostly made from plastic but other stuff still comes in that foil material. It is ideal.

ParticipantTomato Paste often comes in these metal tubes in the UK. Not sure about the US.

ParticipantYou could try strips of paper soaked with diluted pva/wood glue. You could also try folding some kitchen foil in half and then cutting a strip. You could also try something like Evergreen Scale Models styrene strips which come in a variety of small sizes including 0.033″ and 0.043″ wide which would work.
