ParticipantYeah I get that (historically).
Point I’m making is that in game, Gauls would be paying more to get an inferior weapon (sword to short spear).
So a denarii increase for a lesser weapon, makes zero sense. The inverse is true for Britons.
Gauls Warrior:
9pts for a warrior with large shield & sword.
+2pts for short spear.Britons warrior:
8pts for a warrior with large shield & short spear.
+3 Pts for sword.Makes sense?

ParticipantThe Gauls aren’t paying 2 points because they want access to an inferior weapon in that case. They’re paying 2 points to get access to an additional weapon so they can dual wield fight.
In the case of the Britons, they’re paying 3 points to gain access to dual wield fighting and a superior weapon.

ParticipantTbf, I haven’t read the rules for dual fighting… Lol!
So you don’t lose the weapon (ie, its not a replacement)?

ParticipantNo, it’s not replace. The unit becomes equipped with Sword, Short Spear, Shield. And when you enter into combat, you nominate if you want to dual wield weapons (and nominate which weapon is your main hand with each Melee Action for keyword purposes). You gain an extra Melee dice in doing so, but also lose out on getting to use your Shield during the combat.
This option makes perfect sense rather than being included for heavily debatable fluff.

ParticipantI had completely missed that.
Oh wow.
So an 11 pt Gaul warrior would have 4 attacks on the charge with +1 to hit, hopefully lethal 1, and still 1 parry from his sword. And his shield if he comes under missile fire. Those poor Romans…-

ParticipantBit late to the party on this one… I’m excitedly waiting for my bag of Victrix Germans to arrive. They have a mix of head types, body types and loads of nasty weapons and I can’t wait to start building as varied a bunch of warriors as possible, so I’m intending to bung all sorts together and just not bother with the armour upgrades.
That’s what I’ve done with the Celts that I was painting up before Victrix un-helpfully decided to release the Germans!September 21, 2019 at 10:11 am #168846Discoqing
ParticipantHaha, I’m gonna look at them now!

ParticipantThey’re exactly the same as the Gauls, but more beardy heads, and no nakedness…

ParticipantPhew! I can show them to my Grandma then!
