    Hi All
    Here a section of the rule:

    …Units outflanking
    on the left hand side can enter from the left hand table edge, those entering from the right hand side can enter from the right hand table edge. If moving onto the table
    in turn 3, outflanking units can enter along a side edge but not more than 24″ from the player’s own edge….

    Throughout the paragraph is written “can”, but the unit MUST enter from the declared right or left side and CANNOT enter from its long side, correct?

    Correct, you have committed them to an outflanking move.

    “Can” is used because you also have the option to give them a “down” order and delay their attempt to enter the table – if it was “must”, you would take away that option.
