Hi so I noticed a number of oddities involving the points cost of ships and stat blocks. Something is definately very wrong with the Kuma Class stat block. The main stat block seems to be the Kitakame’s torpedo cruiser rules. Japanese 14″ guns seem to be inconsistant in AP stats. Ise class has +2 AP pre-hybrid carrier set-up. In general most of the Japanese battleships have very high point costs relative to other battleships with the possible exception of Yamato. Nagato and Kongo are very over costed given their point cost. Comparatively Colorado seems hilariously undercosted.
Kagero Light cruiser vs Kagero Destroyer points cost are also very odd. Kagero is only 10pts more and has identical Torpedo armament, 6″ guns; more than 3x the hull; better armament.
Also, why do german 5.9″ guns not have the weak trait, but most 6″ guns do?

Esp. the SKC / 25 was superior. On the other side the projectile weight was higher in MK XXIII 6″, but similar in XXII.
For a game designer its ever difficult to design a working formula and keep close to it.

As IO pointed out the ship stats are taken from the realworld, which is why some guns of the same approx calibare have different AP and traits. The ships fire control systems and the Nations ammunition manufacturing affects the range of the weapons.
And yes the points across the book are messed up and make little sense…well they are worked out, some to decimalised points, then rounded to the closest 5 or 10 points. So the two ships you mentioned could be 14 points different. The hull doesnt actually cost that many points (its a ratio to armour)… which is why the 4 Japanese destroyers with exactly the same equipment and weapons having 40 points difference is puzzling. (Kagero (100 – 5/2 hull), Hatshharu(60 – 4/1 hull), Shiratsuyu (95 -4/1 Hull) Yugumo (60 – 5/2 Hull with radar))
However you then get the typo graphical layout error that is page 242… the Kuma class should have 2 port & 2 starboard type 6 torpedoes to start with. The 2nd kuma entry should be called the Kitikami torpedo cruiser and should have 4 port & 4 starboard type 93 torpedo systems. (data taken from the beta)
