Went to the Overlord military show in Denmead. ( It’s on for the next couple of days if anyone is in the Portsmouth area
Took a few photos while there in particular a Unic 107 with a 20mm AA gun. This was a barn find 35 years ago. For 100 francs. Now? It’s one of only 2 left out of 20 that left major Beckers workshops. This is the original paint job. Note there is no number no cross only unit markings front and back.Attachments:

Not too many barn finds like this in Australia afraid!

In Berlin area you will see only the boring DDR/Soviet stuff from the 70’s running around at shows. Peoples in German WW II uniforms would make the Verfassungsschutz (Political Police) run wild.
May 27, 2018 at 4:53 pm #136317Andy LilofParticipantFor those interested.
Normandy. Week after next. Lots of allied equipment at numerous events.
Uk Kent July the war and peace show.( favourite part is the 80s band on the Friday night. If you can picture a couple of hundred people in every uniform a cross the 20th century jumping up and down to ‘one step Boston’s ) however, lots of vehicles lots of re-enactors.
I will put up as many pictures of both as I can.IO. You can always head across the border Holland and Belgium. Quite a few events there.
Yep the P107 is rather titchy and so are many others of that era. Definitely not for the larger gentleman such as myself.
May 30, 2018 at 11:08 pm #136683DeadmanwadeParticipantA quick and simple question (hopefully) about late war British and Commonwealth uniforms.
Aside from the colour, were there any significant visual differences between the standard ETO Battledress and the Jungle Green uniforms? Would they be noticeable in 28mm?Ok, that was technically two questions, but hopefully one answer will lead to the other.
May 31, 2018 at 8:05 am #136694invisible officerParticipantWell, ETO Battledress miniatures usually have the sleeves down, not rolled up. But there are hot days too. Like today 33°C and humid in Berlin. 🙁
Jungle Shirt worn with webbing is similar enough from a distance and in 28mm the differences at body are small. The new 44 webbing set is similar to the 37 one.
But there is the head dress. The bush hat or the 1944 Jungle Service hat look a bit …….
But if you use heads with helmets, no problem.
May 31, 2018 at 10:00 am #136700DeadmanwadeParticipantThanks IO, I’ve missed being able to get an informed and speedy answer to my historical queries while the forums were down.
I’ve been looking at ways of doing troops for Kohima and Imphal, without buying a full metal army. I have a few ideas for the rolled shirt sleeves and a source for the headgear. Hopefully I’ll be able to move ahead with the project in the near future.
June 3, 2018 at 10:54 am #136948Andy LilofParticipantSo…..I’m in Normandy and first stop as ever is cafe gondree for a swift coffee. And then…over to the Pegasus museum. So as a starting point a few piccies. This IS my main interest so I just absorb anything to do with it. I will place much more over time especially since i now have a decent photo editor to downsize images.

June 3, 2018 at 11:03 am #136953Andy LilofParticipantOne of my pet hates with most bridge battle boards i’ve seen is inaccuracies in the surrounding buildings and the most common is the lack of the railway station that was across the road from the cafe.
Picture of the bridge under construction in 1934 the station was demolished along with the whole railway network shortly after the war.
I had one commissioned and its now available to anyone who wants to get it right.Attachments:
June 3, 2018 at 4:46 pm #136966Dr DaveParticipantThe other issue might be the tendency to wear the uniform with the collar un-buttoned – often unbuttoned a long way down! Also the light weight 1943 jungle uniform shirt was much longer than the European BD uniform – almost a “smock” more than a blouse. This was often worn un-tucked and hanging out.
June 3, 2018 at 6:54 pm #136970Andy LilofParticipantSo today quick trip into Ste Mere Eglise after a swift trip to fully sur seule and the book fair (not a good experience if you have a loose wallet!)

June 6, 2018 at 1:53 pm #137435MikeParticipantI realized I posted my first two queries in the “General Discussion” part of the main forum and not under the section devoted to “Bolt Action” so I repeat them here.
Post 1:
As I am just getting into Bolt Action gaming, I wanted to begin with the US Army starter set. I have already made my purchase. I am posting now with a question about what I just bought and waiting to receive.
Warlord’s catalog description of the M4 Sherman in the US Army starter set says it is “plastic.” However, in an unboxing video of this set, the contents are shown to include a resin M4. I was hoping for the more detailed plastic kit. What will I be getting?Reply:
The unboxing you watched may have been from an earlier version of the set.. Most bolt action unboxing vids I’ve watched are from at least a year ago so the set might have changed since.
Also to address another point you made about resin and plastic.. in the early days of plastic it was of much worse quality then resin and resin kits have still to this day maintained a very high level of detail. The main difference now is not the detail but the ease of construction. Plastic kits as a rule are much easier tho put together due to the solvents needed but resin is just as detailed and the end results are just as good, you just need to do more preparation and take a bit more time putting them together.
Some of Warlords products are still white metal alloy… 🙂Post:2
Thank you for the reply. Your point about the early boxing is a good one. I went back and looked at the unboxing video and it dates from August 2014!
The set I purchased is from an eBay seller and there is no way of knowing how long he had it. Do you know of any differences in the packaging or box artwork for the two?Another confusing issue…The box art of the Warlord kit packaged as the “M4 Sherman Medium Tank” shows an M4A3. However, it appears the kit is of the earlier M4 version. Am I correct? Is there an M4A3 (75mm) available from Warlord?
Thanks.
