I am rigging the ships in the starting box and would like some tips on making the sails look like they are billowing. I have tried gently bending the sail around a brush handle but am afraid of bending them too much and splitting the layers of the sail. After this wrapping around the sail will return to its flat state.

You need quite a lot of curl if they are to fit between the yards. I them stick the top edge to its yard and after that sets push the bottom corners into position and fix with superglue.
