Just played our 1st 2 large games today with about 7 ships a side, mostly 3rd rate and above. Very good games, lots of fun. We did not encounter very many rules issues bt did have a couple of queries.
If you get a crew hit critical AND fall below your break point is that effectively an automatic surrender? It appears to be as you have to take an immediate skill test and you fail all skill tests. I have no problem with that, just checking.
SHIP ON FIRE. – if the ship is on fire and then it gets another ship on fire critical what hgappens? We assumed it took the additional immediate damage for the fire but after that was just treated as one fire but could find no reference in the rules to multiple fires at all.
COLLISIONS – we had several collisions and were not too sure what to do after the collision had occured, take a simple case of 1 ship heading due north, a 2nd ship (friend or foe) is heading due west and hits it amidships. Both ships roll to avoid the collision
a) assuming the collision is avoided what does the ship heading west do next?
b) assuming the collision is not avoided what does the ship heading west do next? Thanks in advance for all ideas.

Yes. Auto surrender

b) assuming the collision is not avoided what does the ship heading west do next?a. If the ship has enough movement, it is moved beyond the evaded ship. If not, stops short of ship.
b. Consult collision chart. Apply damage as listed.

November 11, 2019 at 10:22 am #171500Andy WatkinsParticipantSo if they collide and are stationery. The one that struck the side of the other, can it move off the next turn?
Or would it have to rotate stationery for the turn?

You receive 2 critical and say both are quarterdeck? Do you ignore the 2nd one or roll again?
November 11, 2019 at 11:35 am #171503Steve BurtParticipantWhen an entangled (or grappled) ship activates it can make a skill test if it wantw to disengage; if it succeeds, it can move off. I think it says somewhere to put the two ships parallel after a collision, so either can move off if it makes the test.
I think the rules say re-roll if you get the same critical twice. -
