Thanks for the Christmas present! Here a couple of questions how to ‘unwrap’ it:

How does the ‘Armoured’ trait work for an aircraft? I think the card comes only with the Il-2 and none of the card packs.
Does ‘Can Opener’ cancel it?

3D6 chart on page 3: What is the result when rolling a 16?

‘Christmas Post’ scenario: In case of tri-engine transports, are there really 3, not 2? (assuming the same logic as for bombers in ‘Escort Duty’)

What are the stats for the Bristol Bombay?

A couple of editing glitches that came to my attention:
– The image on page 8 is missing.
– On page 2, the BRS-AS page references are missing two times.
– It says ‘bomber’ a couple of times in ‘Christmas Post'(Starting Advantage Level, Deployment Sequence) when is should presumably say ‘transport’.

Actually I missed both the sandstorm release and your post. The forum behave strangely as the front page does not always refresh the subforum update.

After checking here are my thoughts:
– can opener is effective on ground targets only
– I would say replace 17 by 16-17
– I assume, stick with the aircraft reality (didn’t find the reference to escort duty)
– I guess the stats will be in the AS book as this campaign is an AS supplement
– I think an illustration is missing on page 3 too
– AS should have been still WIP when this was written so we should expect a reviewed version once AS is ok to print
– by re-reading the escort duty scenario, I suspect transport should have replaced bomber in the original paragraph but was was mis-replacing escort here. So it should be escort and transport instead of bomber and transport

Hi Koin-Koin,
I appreciate your efforts. However I still hoped to get a reply by Warlord Games crew and perhaps even a fixed version at some point.
By now it is clear that the missing stat is not in Air Strike.
The more I look at it, the more oddities I find in Sandstorm. I guess the Hs 129 B-2 should have the Multi Engine (2) trait, making Sluggish unnecessary. If I understand correctly, “Armoured” is the new “Robust”. If you think it’s confusing, it did that to the card designer also: The Hurricane has Robust, the Hs 129 Armoured.
But then again, you don’t need them for the Sandstorm rules anyway (p. 3) or did I miss anything?

The Air strike book has a picture of the “Armoured” card. It is a positive aircraft trait (always in play), and it simply reduces the number of attack die rolled against it by 1.

Armoured is a positive (aka always on) trait where as Robust is a trait card (so goes in your hand)

Indeed, I see my mistake. I hadn’t known yet that “Armoured” is a positive aircraft trait and thus always on.

Understood, but it’s a closed group (without wanting to start that discussion again) and I’m not a member of that religion for the protection of my digital soul 😉
