Stands per unit

This may be a daft question: Can you have a unit with more than 4 stands? I realize that a large units has four stands, but I would like to create some units with say, 5 stands. I game with 115mm sized figures.

Hi Richard, the Black Powder rules don’t operate on ‘stands’. The rules differentiate units in to Small, Regular and Large.  All units have to fit in to into one of these categories.  You need to decide a rough frontage for each size of unit, and the only key thing is to make sure both sides in a a battle have roughly the same frontage for each size.  So, for your Epic battles you could have large units made up as 4 or 5 stands frontage if you want and it will not make any significant difference. I assume you will use 3 stands for Regular size and 2 stands for Small?
