I have just posted the first couple of entries for a new blog I have started, with some gaming chums, describing our preparations for a demo games at Salute in April.

We are going to be refighting Lutzen, 1632, with Pike and Shotte (of course!).

Lots of work underway, as you’d expect, so more entries to follow soon 🙂

Same here! I think you must be a much faster painter than I as I would have had to start this project about a year ago to be finished in time for Salute this year.:)

    Thanks RR 🙂

I am getting some help on the painting front, and there are also three people’s collections we are using, so hoping it is all do-able. I think the space we have got (10’ wide) will be the limiting factor, rather than our painting output.

Currently a large cull of teddy bears is going on. Clippers and comb on standby!

Good stuff CtG. That Peter Snayers book is a real find; I have spent a bit of time looking at his stuff online; I may have to get that book.

    Thanks RR.

I can’t recommend the book enough. It is a jaw dropping price (around 90GBP+) and seems to be only available from specialist sellers. If you like these paintings then it is a superb resource. I suspect that it has a good second hand value as it is not published in massive quantities, and so even if you decide to off-load it later you may get a reasonable amount back. However, I will not be selling mine! 😉

    Love them!

I have used the two leftmost infantry flags for my imperialists to represent Berthold von Wallenstein’s infantry regiment. His regiment suffered heavy casualties, including Berthold himself. Seems those flags were captured during the battle, so I had decided to use them to represent that unit. Obviously there is no 100% proof they belonged to that unit, but I like to name regiments, so….

    Keep posting updates please!

I had the same thought re. Berthold’s regiment. I’ve given them a large pike block and so squeezed in both sets of the ‘captured at Lützen’ colours from Flags of War. I’m expecting a big showdown for them against the green brigade, fighting over the windmill battery.

    More to come 🙂
