    pins are applied after shooting before wounds and saves.  With few negative mods and less super 6s  (7+) to hit means that the average number of hits on a unit is going up…

    however after todays tease – it’ll be worse as its now easier to get rid of them

    so 1st & 2nd Lts are now all pltn commders (1st Lts)
    Cpts & Majors are now company commanders (Mjrs)
    Rally removes all pins instead of D6+1
    ‘as modeled’ weapons gone… now pay for them
    no free units’ across the whole of Bolt Action: Third Edition.
    failed order roll on vehicles and they reverse … hit the table edge and they dont stop – only allowed to pivot to get round obstacles /models
    max ld is now 11 (just like the fins)

    Snipers: – +1 to hit
    same 12-36″ range on a fire! or Ambush order
    ignore cover saves
    +1 to wound infantry /artillery crew
    can pick out officers / unit leaders
    not all snipers have the TEAM rule
    snipers are the unit leader

    -1 for loss of loader still around
    if unit leader dies, loaders can pickup the weapon

    “not all snipers have the TEAM rule” – not a change.  Polish marksman and Japanese lone sniper (unless he takes LMG option) come to mind as current examples of one man sniper units that don’t suffer the Team rule.

    Given no exceptional damage, I wonder how they  are going to allow a chance of taking a leader out for non-snipers. It is going to be comical if a HE burst always just leaves the leader and special weapons men standing there (and, yes, I know in 3E that of the others automatically finds that LMG and prises from the burned body of his dead comrade, from somewhere in the rubbled house.)

    3E is not looking good for me. What do others think, given we don’t have the whole thing, but we now have big pieces of it?

    As for the +1 to hit for veteran troops, we experimented with that in our group last year and found that a veteran company with that rule plus Tough Fighter was just too powerful when matched against a regular company even when the regulars were given twice the points for support teams and tanks.  What we settled on was earmarking two soldiers per squad as marksmen (we simply marked the bottom of their bases with a green M) and giving them the +1 to hit.  This worked very well without destroying the balance.

    I don’t think veterans are +1 to hit. Not heard that mentioned anywhere.
