Welcome to the first entry in an exciting new series of articles following the exploits of Warlord staff members as they participate in an escalation campaign kicking off in the early days of the war, hurtling towards the dramatic climax in 1945.

Why Four Star Generals I hear you cry? Well, we’ve each only got 1 star, and there’s 4 of us!

The premise of the campaign is that each of the Generals must select an army to play through to the completion of the campaign.

The players start with a 500pt army and each month they must add an additional 500pts or replace old units with new units totalling no more than the new points total.

Each month we’ll have a brief chat with each player on how they feel their armies are going and any major plans they have for the month ahead. We’ll also include the updated army lists and talk through any dramatic changes, so you get an insight into the minds of our generals.

Let’s meet our generals!

The Generals

Major General Gramaglia

I’m the HQ store’s resident German player and I’m known for running big games with lots of German big cats. I’m relatively new to Warlord and work in the HQ Store alongside Chris and Connor. I got into the wargaming hobby years ago and have never looked back, playing everything from 15mm all the way to 54mm and have always loved the balance of power and tactics required to build a functioning army list.

I’m collecting winter Soviets for the campaign. I’m really interested to see where I can take the Soviets and how they will develop over the following months.

Generaloberst Westerman

Hi there, my name’s Chris and I generally play Waffen-SS in Bolt Action. I tend to take tank destroyers and transports with my forces. I’ve been working for Warlord for a little over 6 months in the HQ store. When I’m not working I’m commonly found building and painting my models for my next project. I tend to mainly play 28mm and vast and expansive armies and I enjoy the tactics used in playing a functioning, well-built army against a formidable opponent.

I’m collecting winter Germans for the campaign. I’m excited to see how my German force will expand and grow over the coming months.

Major General Strange

Hi everyone, my name’s Ewan.

I currently work in the HQ store and commonly play Beyond the Gates of Antares when I’m not working. I’ve joined this campaign as Bolt Action has long been an interest of mine and the campaign with my friends and colleagues seemed like a good opportunity to learn the rules and help me stay focused on building a force from scratch.

I’m new to Bolt Action and am looking to learn the rules and collect an army of Soviets. I’ll be modelling my forces in summer uniforms, to avoid confusion with Kalon’s Soviets.

General Hind

I began playing the British, my personal favourite army is the British Airborne! I’ve worked in the HQ store for just over a year and a half now. I have been in the hobby for about seven years now, starting with 28mm but recently I have been exploring other scales and games and playing around with different hobby techniques.

I’m going to be collecting the British in the upcoming campaign. I’m attempting to mirror the evolution of the army so my force will be changing multiple times over the coming months which will present an extremely exciting painting and hobby challenge.

Tom Mecredy
Tom spends most of his time buying books and painting miniatures. He enjoys putting animals on the bases of his miniatures and half-finishing side projects. Some say that he lives in a tower on top of some windswept northern hill with his wife and cow-patterned cat, Spaghetti.
