Defend the Mother Country with this new early war Soviet tank – the T-26B Mod 1938. Also fielded by the Finns!
Up to 1938 the T-26s external design barely changed, other than the whip antenna. Internally a new command and radio system, telescopic gun sight and electric breech block brought the the tank up to a more modern standard.
Despite the main gun remaining the same through to 1941, the shape of the turret changed to a more conical cast design with sloping sides. The addition of a panoramic sight for the commander in radio-equipped command tanks and a rear gun port completed the new look.
During the Winter War the Finnish forces captured several T-26s – the Model 1938 amongst them – and fielded them against their former owners…
