We’ve taken the opportunity to refresh this exciting set of models from our Bolt Action WWII range. These brave, well-trained sailors performed exceptionally well in many battles on the Eastern Front. They’re now available as single model Reinforcements as well as in two packs (Naval Brigade and Naval Brigade Command) that not only save you cash but also allow you to easily build your units as they would appear in the field.
The Naval Infantry Brigades fought hard in most of the epic Soviet battles of WWII. Formed from tough sailors when the Russian army had been shattered by fast moving German forces, the Brigada Morskoi Pekhoty as they were known, were truly sailors armed with infantry weapons and ordered to the front or fighting in situ to defend their naval bases.
Clad in dark uniforms they soon earned the nick name “Black Death or Black Devils” from their foes.
They fought at Leningrad in one of the grimmest sieges in history and also were at Sevastopol in 1941 when their base was overrun. They also fought In Finland, East Prussia and launched raids against the Finns and Germans from Archangel. Most famously they defended the grain elevator at Stalingrad for many days; losing appalling casualties but refusing to give in.
The Soviet Naval Brigade Command Pack is led by a typical Soviet officer. This fellow, and his submachine gun, will ensure discipline in the ranks. He also has a Sergeant with a PPsH and an anti-tank rifle team of two men, whose job was often sniping if there were no German tanks to bother them.
