As a certain Roman Legate once said “Upon my command, unleash hell!” Now you have the tools to do just that! Ex-Games Workshop master sculptor Tim ‘Baneblade’ Adcock has sculpted possibly the finest Roman war machine yet produced – the Ballista!
This is a truly war machine that will dominate your army’s battle line. Powerful, long-ranged and surprisingly accurate, ballistae such as these could lay down a crushing bombardment of heavy stones on an enemy fortress or structure, even adding their weight to the battle line if circumstances allowed.
There are stories of the enemy capitulating under the repeated salvoes of the stone balls. In Palestine, the Jewish defenders got wise to the arc of the incoming projectile, calling out the trajectory of the shots, until the ingenious Romans painted their projectiles white so they could not be picked out against the sky!
The war machine is served by 3 crew, all sculpted by the amazing Paul Hicks who has instilled in them great character, pulling and pushing to haul back the pulleys and launch their stone shot against the distant enemy.
